Managing Fossil Fuel Decline
Barry Gardiner MP, Shadow Secretary of State for International Trade & International Climate Change in the UK, makes the case for the urgency of ensuring a smooth transition in revaluing the stranded assets of fossil fuel companies. These are the assets that the companies claim represent the value of the oil and gas they have identified for potential exploitation. But it is now clear that most of these reserves must be left in the ground if the planet is to remain below the agreed 2 degrees C of dangerous warming.
